No other model has been seen in more of our images than the 1937 Studebaker Dictator. Yes, in the late 1930s, you could buy a Commander, a Dictator or a top of the line President from the folks in South Bend, Indiana. It is hard to imagine how a company could sell Dictators at the time Hitler was starting to flex his ego. The company always claimed they meant, like, dictating fashion….
The car has been seen in Ken’s Garage series and a lovely bit of work Ken did, making the car look like it is next to a real building, called simply, Studebaker. It had a brief role in The Race Up Red Rock Mountain, a Four Frame Film we shot at Red Rocks Park and appears in several more shots than I’m ready to name.
It was also our first image to get more than twenty thousand views when it appeared as, The Dictator.
Wouldn’t you love to own a coffee mug that said, “The Dictator” on it?
