As lovely as this car looks, the old Packard guys often complained that this car also marked Packard’s slide into something less than they had been. Why? Because Packard based the car on their 120 series and not the Super 8 or later 160 and 180 platforms. The car was aimed at a more middle class market and that is the root of the die hard Packard enthusiasts’ claims against this beauty and her wood bodied sisters. She hadn’t been given the full Packard luxury treatment and finish. You can make a good argument that the interiors of these wood bodied beauties are pretty sparse. One of these with overdrive would be a great car to have in the garage today.
