The 1942 Chrysler Town and Country Wagon and the 1947 Buick Estate Wagon mark a stylistic boundary in American motoring. You can still see Deco and streamlining influences in the fenders of the Buick but both brands are heading towards the tubby shapes of the early 1950s. American cars are bulking up another notch.
