This is the 1939 Packard Super 8 Convertible, LP’s Dad bought in 1949. Dad was a newspaper boy in Tulsa, Oklahoma at a time the city could rightly call itself, The Oil Capital of the World. The site of Dad throwing papers from the car one day caused a newcomer in town to exclaim, “They told me Tulsa was a rich town. Even the paperboy drives a Packard!”
Oh yeah, it should be pointed out that this was Dad’s car. It was not his crib. The home is Philbrooke, built in a very ritzy section of Tulsa, by one of the Phillips 66 clan. It is now, a museum.
He kept the car for 59 years and then sold it to a Realtor in Atlanta and his wife. They have named her Annie. She is now living a life, hauling Miss Peach tree this, that and some other thing. It is interesting to note, one grandmother was an Annie.
